Focusing on the debut novels by Helene Hegemann (Axolotl Roadkill, 2010) and David Lopez (Fief, 2017), the article aims to shed light on the still ambiguous features of 21st century European Literature. The goal is to analyze, through these two novels, the physiognomy of a literary corpus that developed outside 20th-century paradigms, trying to identify the causes of alienation and estrangement that still weigh on the ruins of the old Heimat.
