Be Heimatung – Reconfiguring the Concept of Heimat in Post-Migration Scandinavia

Abstract

Heimat is a more and more recurring topic in the fields of sociology and cultural studies. Trapped in its meaning of Homeland, Heimat keeps supporting the re-proposition of identity and belonging parameters as defined by the ideology of nation-state. This paper intends to explore the issues related to this concept examining the context of Nordic Welfare State.
