Mancassola explores some critical issues relating to realist novels dealing with the Anthropocene and climate change. Starting with Amitav Ghosh’s essay on that theme, and with reference to a selection of contemporary Italian essays, novels, and other contributions, the author defends a form of writing which, to be truly credible, deals with the uncomfortable hyper-truths of the current climate change and does not limit itself to a fashionable use of a dismissive kind of autofiction.
